2018 Lexus CT 200h: Review, Release Date, F Sport

The Lexus carmaker has improved its latest 2018 Lexus CT 200h model with a few upgrades this time. This model has been firstly presented in 2011, precisely at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and it has been the brand’s smallest and most affordable vehicles for quite some time. It Europe, precisely in the UK, the CT 200h has been one of the best-selling vehicles on the market. Unfortunately, in the United States, this model will no longer be available but it will be sold in the rest of the world.

The newest 2018 Lexus CT 200h has been revealed at the Frankfurt Show this year. The changes which the 2018 model year has brought are not major but surely significant. In the exterior styling, there will be some changes on both fascias. Inside the cabin, we can expect some small adjustments while the major improvement will be larger infotainment screen. In the engine department, we won’t see any changes this time. It will be available in several trims which will include SE, Luxury F Sport, and Premier models but there will also be SE Plus Pack and F Sport Premier Packs.

The new 2018 Lexus CT 200h will be powered with the same unit as before. It is a system of a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle petrol engine and two electric motors which was firstly made for the third generation of the Prius model. The total output of this unit is 134 horsepower. The all-electric range of this unit will be up to 28 miles. The engine will pair with a continuously variable transmission.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of the exterior design, the 2018 Lexus CT 200h will receive some small but noticeable changes. The whole styling will get a more dramatic look. The front fascia will get more aggressive and more modern appearance. There will be slightly revised spindle grille with new mesh pattern and restyled LED headlamps. The daytime running lights have been repositioned as well, and above the grille, there will be a new bumper. The fog lights will be now painted in metallic grey color. Moving to the rear, we will notice the new L-shaped taillights which will give sportier look. They will also get LED lighting. It will ride on the standard 15-inch wheels while the F Sport trim will get larger 17-inch dark metallic alloy wheels. Furthermore, the F Sport model will get some new exterior colors. Those will be Lava Orange Crystal Sunshine and Heat Blue Contrast Layering.

The interior of the 2018 Lexus CT 200h will be refined with more quality materials and upgraded technology. The most noticeable upgrade will be the larger 10.3-inch touchscreen with Lexus satellite navigation system. As well, there will also be some new interior color combinations.

As for the equipment, the standard features will include a reversing camera, audio system with six speakers, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers etc. The SE Plus Pack will add rear parking sensors, 17-inch wheels and Lexus’s Safety System+. This safety system will include a pre-collision system, radar cruise control, lane departure alert, automatic high beams and so on. The higher trims will arrive with heated front seats, keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors etc.

Release date and price

The 2018 Lexus CT 200h should arrive sometime during next year. Its price is expected to start at around $31,400.
