2018 Lexus RX 350: Price, Release Date, Review

The Lexus car maker is preparing a redesign of its RX model. What you probably already know the RX model will be available in following trims: the base RX 350, RX 350L which will get more power and the hybrid version called RX 450h. However, this time we will talk about the upcoming 2018 Lexus RX 350.

Generally, the Lexus RX will offer attractive styling, good acceleration and lots of standard safety features. Its performance, in the base trim, is quite good for everyday driving as well. However, its cargo space is not that generous when we compare it to its main rivals. On the other hand, the 2018 model year will now bring a moonroof and blind spot monitoring as optional equipment even in the base trim.

The main rivals of the new Lexus will include Cadillac XT5, Lincoln MKX, Acura MDX, Nissan Murano and Volvo XC60.

The base 2018 Lexus RX 350 will be powered with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which will also be used in the RX 350L. However, the output of this unit in the base model will be 295 horses and 267 pound-feet of torque while the RX 350L will be less powerful. It will be able to make 290 hp. The engine will pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, it will be available with both front- and all-wheel drive configurations. Speaking of the fuel economy, with front-wheel drive it gets 20/27/23/ mpg while with all-drive it is rated at 19 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg combined.

Design of exterior and interior

When it comes to exterior, the newest 2018 Lexus RX 350 will ride on the standard 109.8-inch wheelbase and will be the smallest version in the lineup. For example, compared to the RX 350L, the RX 350 will be 4.3 inches shorter. As for the external appearance, the new RX will look sleek, more modern and attractive. The front end is dominated by the brand’s well-known spindle grille and a pair of narrow and sharp LED headlamps. The rear end is also nicely sculpted with some nice floating lines and details. Furthermore, it will ride on standard 18-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, the 2018 Lexus RX 350 will be sufficiently spacious and will be able to welcome up to five passengers. The front seats are extremely comfortable and offer plenty of room. They are also very supportive. As well, the rear ones offer great space too. They are upholstered in synthetic leather. The dashboard will feature the standard 8.0-inch touchscreen with the latest infotainment system.

Speaking of the equipment, it will come standard with power front seats, LED headlights, a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, active lane control, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. However, the RX 350 will be available with Premium option package which will include wood trim, leather and roof rails. Furthermore, the Luxury package will add 20-inch wheels, more quality leather and heated and ventilated front seats.

Release date and price

The 2018 Lexus RX 350 should arrive later this year or early next year. As for the price, the RX 350 should start at around $43,500.
