2018 Lexus RX 350L: Price, Specs, Dimensions, Review

The Lexus’s luxury crossover RX is available in three flavors which differ in size and engine. Those are the base RX 350, RX 350L and the hybrid version called RX 450h. We have already written about the specs of the base and hybrid models, so this time we will review the newest 2018 Lexus RX 350L.

The Lexus RX is a luxury crossover SUV which looks very modern and attractive. The interior is spacious and offers two-row seating in the base trim while the RX 350L has three rows of seats. Furthermore, it has several engines to choose from depending on a trim level. The safety is on the high level offering plenty of standard and optional features. The RX 350L is an extended version of the base 350 version which features a third row so it can accommodate more passengers, but they share the same engine under the hood.

The main rivals of the RX model are Volvo XC60, Lincoln MKX, Acura MDX, Cadillac XT5, and Nissan Murano.

Under the hood of the 2018 Lexus RX 350L will be placed the same engine which powers the base RX 350 model. It is a 3.5-liter V-6 which is able to make 290 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. This same unit is more powerful in the base model with the output of 295 hp. The engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It is available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations. As for the fuel economy, it gets 23 mpg combined with the front-wheel drive while with all-wheel drive it is rated at 22 mpg combined.

Design of exterior and interior

Although they ride on the same 109.8-inch, the new 2018 Lexus RX 350L will be longer for 4.3 inches from the base RX 350. Considering external appearance, its design won’t distinguish significantly from the RX 350 which is characterized by sharp lines and bold design. On the front fascia, there is the brand’s well-known large spindle grille and narrow and sharp headlamps. The rear end of the vehicle will be a bit different from the RX350. It will feature L-shaped LED headlamps and the angle of the rear window is changed so it provides sufficient headroom for the rear passengers. The RX 350L will be fitted with standard 18-inch seven-spoke wheels while the 20-inch wheels are optional.

The 2018 Lexus RX 350L features quiet and spacious interior. It can welcome up to seven passengers in three rows of seats. However, the six-seating configuration with captain chairs in the second row will also be available. The leather upholstery is standard and the third row is power-folding which increases the cargo space. The dashboard has an 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment system.

The RX500L will receive a standard Lexus Safety system which consists of lane keep assist, intelligent high beams, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and cruise control. Furthermore, there will be a long list of standard features. Some of them are AM/FM/XM/HD/CD audio with 9 speakers, Bluetooth, USB, power front seats, air conditioning etc. Options will include parking assist, panoramic view monitor, rear cross-traffic braking, navigation, panoramic sunroof, Mark Levinson audio and many other more.

Release date and price

The 2018 Lexus RX 350L is already available on the market. Its price starts at $47,700 and goes up to around $49,000 for all-wheel drive model.
