2018 Toyota Avalon: Hybrid, Price, Review

The Japanese manufacturer has presented the flagship of its sedan lineup, the new 2018 Toyota Avalon. The Avalon stands above the Camry model with whom once it shared similar design and shape. However, after the redesign of these two models, somehow they each managed to get unique and self-distinctive look.

The Avalon is a full-size sedan which offers classic, handsome appearance, spacious and quality cabin and lots of modern safety features. Furthermore, this model provides great ride quality and it is very reliable. Besides that, the future Avalon comes with a strong V-6 unit but also a hybrid powertrain under its hood which will show excellent fuel efficiency. As for the 2018 model year, we expect no changes from the current model only some adjustment to some trim names.

The Toyota Avalon will have strong rivals among Kia Cadenza, Chevy Impala, Nissan Maxima, Buick Lacrosse and Chrysler 300.

The 2018 Toyota Avalon will arrive with two strong engines under its hood. The base unit is going to be a 3.5-liter V-6 which will be able to make 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. The engine will pair to a six-speed automatic transmission. It will be able to hit 60 mph in only 6.7 seconds. The fuel economy ratings of the V-6 are 21 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg combined.

Furthermore, the second option will be a hybrid powertrain. It will be a combination of the 2.5-liter inline-4 and two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. The total output of this engine will be 200 horses. This engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission. It will reach 60 mph in 8.2 seconds. As for the fuel economy, the hybrid gets 40/39/40 mpg which is great.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of the exterior design, the 2018 Toyota Avalon features classic, athletic and handsome styling. The front fascia is dominated by the large grille and a pair of attractive headlights which all give it more aggressive appearance.  The rear end features rectangular LED tail lamps and dual-chrome exhaust outlets. The Avalon will ride on standard 17-inch wheels while the 18-inch alloy wheels will be available too.

Firstly, the interior of the 2018 Toyota Avalon will be spacious and secondly very sophisticated and luxurious. The front seats are very cozy and supportive and there is a plenty of space for the rear passengers too. The front ones are heated as well. Furthermore, they are upholstered in quality leather. The cargo space is also very ample. The dashboard features a 7.0-inch touchscreen with infotainment system.

As for the equipment, it will come standard with a rearview camera, 10 airbags, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, two USB, smart-key access with push-button start etc. The optional features include a moonroof, three-zone climate control, navigation, wireless cellphone charger, perforated leather seats and so on.

Release date and price

The 2018 Toyota Avalon should go on sale in following months. As for the price, it should start at around $34,000.
