2018 Toyota Yaris: Price, Hatchback, Review

The Toyota’s fun to drive small hatchback is ready to hit the market with a few more upgrades. It is the new 2018 Toyota Yaris. This model will be available in hatchback version including L, LE and SE trim levels, while the Yaris iA sedan in one single trim. The L and LE trims are offered in the two- and four-doors hatchback styles and the SE is a four-door range-topping version.

For the 2018 model year, we can expect some changes in styling. So, there will be some changes including front and rear fascias. As well, the Yaris will get a new exterior color too. Inside the cabin, there will be more standard features including upgraded touchscreen with infotainment system and more safety equipment. Unfortunately, the new Toyota won’t offer more power under the hood and it will use the same drivetrain as earlier. The main rivals of the new Toyota will be Hyundai Accent, Honda Fit, Chevy Sonic, Nissan Versa and Ford Fiesta.

Under the hood of the 2018 Toyota Yaris will be placed on single engine option. This means that both hatchback and sedan versions will use a 1.2-liter inline-4 unit. This engine is able to develop 106 horsepower and the torque of 103 pound-feet. When it comes to transmission, the hatchback will pair with either 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual. However, a sedan model will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. As for the fuel efficiency, the hatchback gets 30/35/32 mpg with 4-speed automatic while with 5-speed manual it gets 30/36/33 mpg. The sedan model is rated at 30/39/34 mpg in the city/highway/combined with manual transmission.

This time, the upcoming 2018 Toyota Yaris will receive restyling of the front and rear fascias. These will include new front and rear bumpers. Furthermore, on the front, there will also be slightly redesign and upper grille and revised hood. On the rear, we will notice wider taillights as well. The SE trim will differ from the L and LE trims. It will feature black mesh grille with chrome details. As well, it will ride on 16-inch aluminum wheels. The new Yaris will also get new exterior color shade- Blue Eclipse.

When it comes to interior, the 2018 Toyota Yaris won’t distinguish much from its predecessor except it will feature more standard equipment. The Yaris is sufficiently spacious providing great space for the front passengers while on the rear, it is a bit tight. Unfortunately, the leather upholstery for the seats won’t be available once again. The dashboard will feature a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen with Toyota’s Entune infotainment system. However, the SE trim will get larger 7.0-inch display.

As for the equipment, the standard features include Bluetooth, CD player, audio with 6 speakers, USB etc. The SE trim adds navigation, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition and so on. In the safety department, Toyota comes standard with forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams and a rearview camera.

Release date and price

The 2018 Toyota Yaris has been presented to the public this summer. Its price starts at around $15,500.
