2019 Lexus ES: Redesign, Interior, Spy Photos

We all love the Lexus ES for its comforting and quiet interior, stylish looks, and fuel-efficient hybrid engine. The current generation has been introduced in 2014 when it has received more attractive exterior and more luxurious and better-looking cabin. However, after a five-year cycle now is the time for the next generation model and it is the all-new 2019 Lexus ES. The newest Lexus will represent the seventh generation of this model and it has just been revealed at the Beijing Motor Show and at the same time in Los Angeles. And this luxury compact sedan will bring various improvements in many ways.

First of all, the new Lexus ES will ride on the new platform which will make it larger than its predecessor. As well, thanks to this new platform, it will be easier to handle and will feature more athletic appearance. It will be available in the base ES 350 and the hybrid ES 300h variants. However, the manufacturer has also added the new F Sport trim. Furthermore, the Lexus will finally offer the Apple CarPlay and it is for the first time. Under the hood, we expect the same engine but they will be more powerful this time.

The 2019 Lexus ES will use the same engine options as the current model; however, they will be upgraded for more power. So the base ES 350 will be powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which will get 34 hp and 19 lb-ft more. So the total output of this engine will be 302 horses and 267 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Furthermore, the ES 300h will get a 2.5-liter inline-4 which will work with an electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack placed under the rear seat. This unit will be able to develop 215 horsepower. As for the fuel economy, it gets 44 mpg combined. This engine will work with a continuously variable transmission. The front-wheel drive system will be standard.

The all-new 2019 Lexus ES will now ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), precisely the GA-K platform which also underpins the latest Toyota Avalon and Camry models. Because of the new platform, the new ES is now longer, wider, and lower. Furthermore, these ES 300 and ES 300h will use the standard 17-inch wheel while the 18-inch alloys will be optional. As well, the F Sport model will ride on the 19-inch alloys.

The interior of the 2019 Lexus ES will be upgraded with more advanced technology. And it will finally be equipped with the Apple CarPlay connectivity. However, the Android Auto still won’t be available. The whole cabin will feature cleaner and horizontal look. The dashboard will be equipped with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen while the larger 12.3-inch unit will be available also. Furthermore, although it features a lower roofline, the ES will provide the same space inside the cabin.

Release date and price

The 2019 Lexus ES will go on sale this September. The price is expected to be in a range between $39,950 and $42,900.
