The Lexus LC is an attractive sports coupe which has recently been introduced to the public. It is also available with a hybrid engine which is more fuel efficient compared to the LC 500 equipped with a V-8 engine. Although it is still fresh and new on the market, the carmaker is planning to reveal the new model year which will enter the dealerships as the 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid.
Powertrain and performance of the 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid
The Lexus LC coupe is also available with a hybrid engine besides the standard V-8 unit. So, the newest 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid will use the same hybrid engine as the 2018 model year which represents the brand’s all-new model. So, the LC 500h combines a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack of 44 kWh. This engine has the output of 354 horsepower. It works with a continuously variable transmission and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 155 mph. The LC 500h is rated at 26 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
Since it has been all-new for 2018, the 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid will carry over the current design. And it features a very similar design of the LF-LC concept vehicle which has been presented at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The LC looks really handsome with a unique shape and sharp lines all over the body. The front end sports the well-known spindle grille which gives it dramatic look and a pair of sharp, slim headlights with LED lighting. On the rear end, the first thing we will notice is unique, three-dimensional LED taillights. Except the badging, the LC 500 and LC 500h look exactly the same.
Like any other sports car, the interior of the 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid is focused on a driver but in the same time it is luxurious and looks elegant. The front seats are excellent, comfortable and supportive at long drives. However, as expected, the space on the rear seats is very tight. However, they are covered in nice leather. As well, in the center of the dashboard, there is a laptop-style touchscreen for infotainment system which is not easy to use during the ride.
The base equipment in both models includes Bluetooth, LED headlights, power features, leather, a glass roof, a Pioneer audio system with 12 speakers, 20-inch wheels, and 10-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. However, the carmaker doesn’t offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Some of the options will be 21-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, semi-aniline leather or Alcantara, blind-spot monitoring, a Mark Levinson audio system with 13 speakers, heated steering wheel and so on.
As for the safety, the LC comes with active lane control, a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Release date and price
We still don’t know when exactly the 2019 Lexus LC Hybrid will go on sale. The price should remain similar and it starts at around $106,000.
