The Lexus RC is a well-known 2-door coupe which looks very attractive, luxurious, and it is very powerful. It is also reliable and equipped with many advanced tech features. The newest version is also announced and it is the 2019 Lexus RC.
Engine and performances of the 2019 Lexus RC
The 2019 Lexus RC will offer several engines under its hood. The RC 200t will be powered by a 20-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. The rear-wheel drive will be standard and the engine will work with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy of this unit is estimated to be 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
A 3.5-liter V-6 will be found in the RC 300 which will come with all-wheel drive system as standard. The total output of this engine is 260 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This unit gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
The RC 350 model will return with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which will be able to develop 311 horses and 277 pound-feet. This unit will come with a choice of rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layout. The RWD model will use an 8-speed automatic and is rated at 19/28 mpg. The AWD variant will come standard with a 6-speed automatic and it gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
On the other hand, the RC F model will use a 5.0-liter V8 engine with the output of 467 hp and 389 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic and it is rated at 16/25 mpg.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Lexus RC looks very unique and menacing with its large spindle grille and angular headlamps which all give it more dramatic appearance. Both front and rear lamps will be equipped with standard LED lighting. The RC will ride on the 18-inch wheels while the F Sport package will add 19-inch wheels with all-season or summer tires.
Inside the cabin, the 2019 Lexus RC seats four. The front seats are comfortable and well bolstered, especially in the RC Sport and RC F versions. However, the rear seats are a bit tight so are best for smaller adults. As expected, the RC is fitted with premium materials and finishes. As for the cargo space, the RC offers the room of 10.4 cubic feet. The dashboard features a 7.0-inch display for infotainment system. However, the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay aren’t included.
Speaking of the equipment, the base model comes with cruise control, power features, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, 18-inch wheels, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, a split-folding rear seatback, CD player, Bluetooth, satellite and HD radio, and two USB ports. The larger 10.25-inch screen with Enform infotainment system will be optional.
Furthermore, the F Sport Package will add 19-inch wheels, head and cooled seats, an adaptive suspension, and performance brake. The RC Luxury trim will include blind-spot monitors, perforated leather, and heated and cooled front seats. The navigation, Mark Levinson premium audio system, and a sunroof will be optional.
Release date and price
The carmaker hasn’t revealed the arrival of the 2019 Lexus RC. However, the price should stay close to the current and it starts at around $41,000.
