The carmaker is working on some minor changes of the newest 2019 Lexus RX 350. This time we should see some subtle upgrades in exterior styling and it is very possible that the RX should get a new engine under its hood which will power the new RX 300 model.
2019 Lexus RX 350 engine and performance
The 2019 Lexus RX 350 will get no changes in the engine department and there is one option. It is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which is able to generate 295 horses and 367 pound-feet of torque. The engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission and it comes with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Connected to front-wheel drive, it gets 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive variant is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
The RX 350L, the extended version of the standard model will use this same unit but it will be slightly less powerful. So it will be able to make 290 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque.
On the other hand, it is very likely that the carmaker will introduce the new RX 300 model for 2019. And this variant should be powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine which can deliver 235 ponies. It is the same unit found in the NX 300 model.
Design of exterior and interior
The current generation of the Lexus RX 350 and other trim levels in the lineup have been presented in 2016, so there probably won’t be any major changes in the exterior styling of the new 2019 Lexus RX 350. The new 2019 model year has been spotted wearing just a bit of camouflage on the taillights, so we assume that it might get revised tail lamps only. However, the front end will continue to wear the brand’s well-known spindle grille and angular headlamps which give it an aggressive look.
The interior of the 2019 Lexus RX 350 will have standard two rows of seats as before. All the seats, front and rear are comfortable, supportive and offer plenty of room. They are upholstered in synthetic leather and the second row can be folded down for more cargo room. Behind the rear seats, the RX 350 offers the room of 18 cubic feet. However, with the rear seats folded down, the cargo room expands to more than 56 cubic feet. The dashboard features a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system. But the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity aren’t in the offer, unfortunately.
2019 Lexus RX 350 features and safety
The 2019 Lexus RX 350 is equipped with Bluetooth, USB, an audio system with 9 speakers, an 8.0-inch screen for infotainment, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual zone climate control, LED headlamps, power front seats, power features, 18-inch wheels, and synthetic leather upholstery.
The Premium optional package will add leather, wood trim, and roof rails. There is also a Luxury package which includes nicer leather, heated and ventilated seats, and 20-inch wheels. As well, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, Mark Levinson audio, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof and a rear-seat entertainment system will be optional.
Furthermore, the standard safety equipment will include a rearview camera and the Lexus Safety System+ which adds automatic emergency braking, auto high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning.
Release date and price
The 2019 Lexus RX 350 should hit the market later this year. Its starting price should be around $45,000.
