The Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is known for its excellent capability and, with no doubt, it represents one of the most capable SUVs on the road. Unlike many other crossover SUVs, it remains one of a few models to be based on a body-on-frame chassis. It looks attractive, has a powerful engine, and it is an excellent choice for off-road driving. There is the all-new version which will hit the market as the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. However, 2019 version won’t differ much from the current model but it will get some small upgrades in exterior and interior styling. We can also expect upgrades in the technology front while the engine will stay the same.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro
Under the hood of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will be found the same engine as in its forerunner. It is a strong 4.0-liter V-6 engine which is able to generate 270 hp and 278 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with all-wheel drive system. It is able to tow up to 5,000 pounds. As for the fuel economy, the numbers aren’t that impressive. It is rated at 17 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will return with the same appearance as before and it will get just some minor changes. And perhaps the most noticeable upgrade will be the new roof rack. It will feature black bars which will look very rugged. The carmaker has added the roof rack in order to improve cargo space. Furthermore, the Toyota has also refreshed the front skid plate with the new TRD logo painted in red. As well, the new 4Runner TRD Pro has also gotten the new LED fog lights which have given it better and more pronounced look. Furthermore, it will ride on the 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.
The upgrades inside the cabin of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will be minor but important and aren’t limited to this trim level only. The Entune infotainment system will be upgraded and now features navigation, Toyota’s App Suite, and a premium JBL audio system. The seats have been redesigned also and are upholstered in Softex and feature RED stitching. The 4Runner is able to welcome up to five passengers as before. The cargo space is pretty good and offers the room of 47.2 cubic feet. However, the rear seats can be folded down and then the cargo space increases to 89.7 cubic feet. As well, there are TRD logos on the floor mats, shift knob, and headrests.
As for the safety, it comes standard with eight airbags, a rearview camera, active head restraints, anti-lock brakes, and stability control.
Release date and price
It is not yet officially confirmed, but the 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro shouldn’t appear unit this fall. As for the price, we don’t expect any large changes from the current model which start at around $43,000.
