The newest 2019 Toyota 4Runner is almost ready to hit the market and it should be in a few months from now. However, the 2019 model year will only get some minor changes including deletion and introduction of some new exterior colors and new silver rails with black caps. The interior will stay pretty much unchanged so as the engine. However, the TRD Pro model will get some exterior and interior upgrades and adjustments and the new Nightshade Edition Package.
Powertrain and performance of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner
Under the hood of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner won’t be any changes applied this time. It will get the same engine as before and there is one single option. It is a 4.0-liter V-6 engine which is able to develop 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. It comes with two drivetrain options; the SR5 and Limited models come with rear-wheel drive system while the SR5 and TRD trim levels have all-wheel drive configuration.
The rear-wheel drive model gets 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive models are rated at 17/20 mpg in the city/highway. The 4Runner is able to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Design of exterior and interior
The standard 2019 Toyota 4Runner won’t get any changes visually and will continue with the same rugged, boxy and aggressive appearance. The front end is dominated by familiar two-tier grille and larger headlamps with indentations in a shape of boomerang below. However, the carmaker will now replace the Calvary Blue exterior color and replace it with the new Voodoo Blue.
Furthermore, this time the TRD Pro model will get some new styling details. And those will include 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, red accents on the front skid plate, new LED fog lights, and new roof rack.
It will be the same with the interior design of the new 2019 Toyota 4Runner. It comes with standard two-row seating configuration while the SRT5 and Limited trims will be available with three rows. However, the third row is most suitable for children. The first and the second-row seats are highly comfortable and upholstered in fabric. The synthetic leather and real leather are available in higher trim levels. The cargo space is also pretty good, and in the base model, it offers the room of 47.2 cubic feet. Behind the second row, there are almost 90 cubic feet for cargo.
On the other hand, the TRD Pro model will get new cloth upholstery with red contrasting stitching, upgraded JBL audio system and Entune infotainment system.
Equipment of the 2019 Toyota 4Runner
The base ST5 model will offer a rearview camera, a 6.1-inch infotainment screen, audio system with 8 speakers, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a power driver’s seat. The SR5 will add front seat heaters, synthetic leather, and navigation. The higher trims will come with dual-zone climate control, a JBL audio with 15 speakers, cooled and heated front seats, 20-inch wheels, and leather.
Release date and price
The 2019 Toyota 4Runner should arrive this fall. The price won’t change, at least for the base model which starts at $35,500.
