The Toyota Allion is a compact sedan which appeared for the first time back in 2001 and it is made for the Japanese market only. We also know it as the Toyota Premio. The first generation model lasted until 2007 when it has been replaced in 2007 with the current, second-generation model. Then it has received some minor styling tweaks, LED rear lights, and more equipment such as navigation system, smart entry and start system, and a rear-view color monitor. Furthermore, this 4-door sedan has received the first makeover in 2010 and then in 2016. The first facelift had added sharper and more aggressive headlamps and new twin LED tail lights. The fuel efficiency has been improved too. However, the second makeover included LED headlamps and the new Toyota Safety Sense C safety system. But, this time we will review the newest 2019 Toyota Allion which is expected to arrive without some important and major upgrades.
The new 2019 model year should arrive with the same upgrades as the current model, and this time there should be two engine choices in the offer. As well, we might see some improvements in the standard and optional equipment.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Toyota Allion
Under the hood of the 2019 Toyota Allion will be placed the same engine as in the current. The base is a 1.5-liter inline-4 which is able to make around 110 horsepower and the torque of 100 lb-ft. The next is a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine. This one is able to produce 155 horses and 144 pound-feet of torque. This engine has replaced the previous 1.8-liter inline-4 with the output of 140 hp and 130 pound-feet of torque. Furthermore, engines will be mated to a continuously variable transmission and the front-wheel drive system will be standard.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Toyota Allion will return is the same shape and design which is stylish and handsome. The last facelift has added sharper headlamps which give the whole front fascia more aggressive appearance. They are equipped with LED lighting so as the tail lights. We could notice more chrome details, especially on the front fascia. Furthermore, this time we might see some changes on the bumpers.
Inside the cabin, the new 2019 Toyota Allion should arrive pretty much the same and we expect the same design and upholstery of the outgoing model. However, the dashboard could get an upgraded infotainment display this time. Generally, the cabin looks elegant and modern and it is well-equipped also. As for the equipment, the 2019 model year could get additional standard and optional features. The safety will be on the high level and will include airbags, automatic high beams, ABS, lane departure warning, and many other more.
Release date and price
The carmaker still hasn’t confirmed when the 2019 Toyota Allion could go on sale. We assume that it could be sometime during next year. Speaking of the price, we believe that it will stay close to the current which starts at around $22,500.
