Like we already know, the Corolla is one of the brand’s most popular cars worldwide, and the newest version has been presented at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show. As well, the 2019 Toyota Corolla has just made its debut in the United States at the 2018 New York Auto Show. This model is available as a sedan and hatchback, but here we will be focused on the hatchback version. The hatchback will be shorter than sedan version for a foot, and there will be some other major differences too.
The just revealed Toyota Corolla will bring numerous upgrades. First of all, it will ride on the new platform, and it is going to be lighter compared to its predecessor. But that is not all; the Corolla will be more powerful also and will be powered by the new engine. As well, there will be two new transmissions available. Visually, it should be much different from the current model but it will get sharper styling. The interior will be redesigned with better materials, wider center console and improved touchscreen on the dashboard. As well, the Apple CarPlay will be now standard while the Android Auto will once again be left out.
2019 Toyota Corolla powertrain
The 2019 Toyota Corolla will now feature a new engine under its hood. It will drop out its familiar 1.8-liter with 132 hp in a favor of a stronger engine. It is a 2.0-liter inline-4 naturally aspirated engine. However, the precise output is still not revealed. But, we assume that it should be able to make around 199 horsepower and the torque of 176 pound-feet. Furthermore, the Corolla will be available with two transmissions. The standard will be a 6-speed manual while a Dynamic-Shift continuously variable transmission with 10 gears will be available too.
The new platform, exterior, and interior
The 2019 Toyota Corolla will be underpinned with the new platform. It will now ride on a version of the Toyota’s modular TNGA platform. The front-wheel drive will be standard and the new Toyota will be lighter than before which will significantly improve fuel consumption.
As for the external appearance, the Corolla will get a sharper design. On the front, there will be a slim grille with Toyota sign in the middle. And above there is a massive lower grille with chrome details. As well, there are restyled headlamps with daytime running lights which give it a bit aggressive look. The rear fascia will be more rounded and there will be LED taillights in a shape of a boomerang and a spoiler which will give it a sportier appearance.
The cabin of the 2019 Toyota Corolla will be revised with new gloss black trim and leatherette surfaces. The dashboard will be now wider and will receive an 8.0-inch touchscreen with latest Entune infotainment system and Apple CapPlay. As well, the standard equipment will also include USB, Bluetooth, JBL audio system, a 7-inch TFT in-cluster display, etc. The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is also standard and includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, auto high beams, and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 Toyota Corolla will most likely go on sale this summer. The price is not yet officially revealed, but we believe that it will start at roughly $20,000.
