For those looking for a capable, rugged, reliable, and comfortable vehicle, then you might check out the Toyota’s full-size SUV, the Land Cruiser. This model delivers great off-road ability and ride quality, and because of the spacious interior, it could be a good choice for those who love adventures in nature. It is powered by a strong V-8 unit but its fuel economy isn’t impressive at all. The 2018 model has gained just a few changes which include the key-activated swing-away exterior mirrors and the rear-entertainment system now comes as an option. The newest 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser has also been announced but we don’t expect any major upgrades.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser
The 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser will return with the same powertrain as the current model and there is a sole unit available. It is a strong 5.7-liter V-8 engine which is capable of making 381 horses and 401 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with standard all-wheel drive setup only. This engine can tow up to 8,100 pounds. As for the fuel efficiency, the Land Cruiser can be considered as one of the least economical vehicles on the market today. It is rated at 13 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser will remain pretty much the same as the 2018 model year. It features a typical SUV shape with a rugged appearance. The front end is dominated by the familiar chrome grille and square LED headlamps. On the rear, there will be prominent taillights and bumper and also some chrome details. It rides on 18-inch wheels.
The inside of the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser is very spacious and it can welcome up to eight passengers in three rows of seats. The seats are upholstered in semi-aniline leather. All the passengers will enjoy comfortable and quiet ride. Behind the third row, the Land Cruiser offers the cargo space of 16.1 cubic feet. However, the third row can be removed, and then, there is a space of 43 cubic feet. If this is not enough, you can fold flat the second row which gives you the cargo room of 82 cubic feet. The dashboard is equipped with a 9.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system.
As for the equipment, the Land Cruiser comes standard with power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats, keyless ignition, a JBL audio system with 14 speakers, four-zone climate control, and a mini fridge in the center console. There is also an optional rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays and a DVD player which used to be standard. The wireless headphones and a wireless remote are also optional.
The standard safety equipment includes 10 airbags, parking sensors, LED headlights, automatic high beams, active headrests, blind spot monitors, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera.
Release date and price
We cannot say precisely when we can expect the newest 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, we might see it later this year, or during next year. We believe that the price won’t change much from the current and it starts at around 85,500.
