2019 Toyota Prius V: Release Date, MPG, Redesign

The Japanese manufacturer is currently testing the next generation of its popular Prius V model which is the largest model in the Prius lineup. It is the all-new 2019 Toyota Prius V which will hit the market with many important upgrades. First of all, it will be based on the new platform. So, this new architecture will make it better to handle and will provide more comfort. As well, the new Prius V will get the new SUV-like shape, revised front fascia similar to the current Prius, and the Lexus NX’-inspired rear end.

2019 Toyota Prius V engine and performance

The upcoming 2019 Toyota Prius V should use the same engine. It is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor, and a high-capacity battery pack. This unit is coupled to a continuously variable automatic transmission and the front-wheel drive system is standard. The total output of this unit is 136 horsepower in the current model. It can also work in the EV mode and with a 1-mile limit. As for the fuel efficiency, the Toyota Prius V is rated at 44 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg combined. However, the 2019 model year could arrive with improved performance and better fuel economy.

The exterior and interior design

First of all, the new 2019 Toyota Prius V will be underpinned with the new platform which debuted in the current Prius. It is the Toyota’s TNGA modular platform which is lighter and provides a lower center of gravity. As well, thanks to this platform, the Prius V will also be easier to handle. And it will show improved ride comfort.

When it comes to exterior design, the 2019 Toyota Prius V will be revised with the new, more SUV-like shape instead of the previous wagon body style. And this doesn’t surprise us since the demand for the sport utility vehicles is constantly growing. The front end features a very similar design to the new Prius. And the rear end is inspired by the Lexus NX.

Moving to the interior, the new 2019 Toyota Prius V will offer more space because of the new platform and the new SUV-like shape. It will come with two rows of seats which are sufficiently cozy. The rear seats can slide and there is the cargo room of 34.3 to 40.2 cubic feet. However, the rear seats can be folded down which expands the cargo space to 67.3 cubic feet.
