2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Interior, MPG, Review

The all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 has just been revealed to the public alongside the hybrid variant as well. And what we could conclude from the instant is that it will get a mildly refreshed exterior styling with a slightly larger wheelbase. So, it will offer more space for the rear passengers and more comfort naturally. Furthermore, this compact SUV will finally feature Apple CarPlay connectivity. As well, the manufacturer promises that the new 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will show great fuel economy.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid engine and performance

The brand-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will be powered by a hybrid engine. This unit will combine a 2.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine with two electric motors, one placed on the front and the other on the rear axle. All together, they will be able to deliver 194 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque. The all-wheel drive will be standard for this unit and the engine will be mated to a continuously variable transmission. As for the fuel economy, this engine is rated at 34 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

On the other hand, the non-hybrid model will use a 2.5-liter inline-4 unit with the output of 176 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. This one will be coupled to a 6-speed automatic and there will be a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

Design of exterior and interior

The newest 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will be a bit shorter than its predecessor. However, it will feature slightly longer wheelbase, so the RAV4 will provide more space for the rear-seat passengers. As for the external appearance, the new Toyota will keep its sharp lines all over the body and aggressive look. On the front end, there is a prominent grille with a pair of narrow headlamps.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid side

As far as the interior design is concerned, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will offer a comfortable and nicely designed cabin as always. All the passengers will enjoy its cozy seats, especially the front ones which are also very supportive. Depending on a trim level, the RAV4 will get either fabric or synthetic leather upholstery. However, it doesn’t offer a third-row option although many of its main competitors do. As for the cargo space, there is 38.4 cubic feet behind the second row. However, if you fold down the second row of seats, you get 73.4 cubes for cargo which is very good. The dashboard is well-design, with many controls and there is a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment. However, an 8.0-inch touchscreen is also available.

The new RAV4 will be very well equipped. It will be available with cooled front seats, a panoramic moonroof, heated front and rear seats, a power liftgate and so on. With the 8.0-inch screen comes satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi Amazon Alexa connectivity etc. A JBL audio system, five USB ports, and a charging pad for Qi-compatible devices will be optional.
