The all-new 2019 Toyota Tacoma is ready to enter the market. However, we won’t see any large changes except in the TRD Pro version which will receive some mild changes both inside and outside.
Engines and performances
Under the hood, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma keeps with the same engine options as before. The base is a 2.7-liter inline-4 engine which is able to develop 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive system. The front-wheel drive variant gets 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive system, this engine is rated at 19/22 mpg.
The next is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with the output of 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. This engine works with either a 6-speed automatic or manual gearbox. There is also a choice of rear-wheel and all-wheel drive layouts. However, only the all-wheel drive variant will be available with a manual gearbox. As for the fuel economy, the RWD with automatic gearbox is rated at 19/24 mpg. The AWD model with automatic transmission gets 18/23 mpg. The all-wheel drive with a manual gearbox is estimated to be 17/21 mpg. The Double Cab model with AWD gets 17/20 mpg in the city/highway.
Design of exterior and interior of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is in the third generation and this time won’t get any changes since it has been revised in 2015 and it still looks fresh. The Tacoma features a rugged appearance and each trim level has its own look of the front end with standard LED daytime running lights which give it more modern look.
On the other hand, the TRD Pro model will get some changes for 2019. Those are the new TRD Pro design of the grille, a new red accent in the TRD Pro logo in the front skid plate, new air intakes, and 16-inch alloys with all-terrain tires.
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma will be offered with extended and double cab variants. The Extended Cab model will be available with a shorter bed only and the double cab model will come with either short or long bed in the back.
Furthermore, the TRD Pro version will be slightly revised with a black interior design with red accents, new TRD Pro logos on the front seatbacks and floor mats. As well, it will get the new Entune infotainment system with a JBL audio system and navigation.
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma will be available in S, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro trim levels.
The base model will come with power windows and locks, 16-inch wheels, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, a 6.1-inch touchscreen for infotainment, USB, and fabric seats. The SR5 will add an upgraded touchscreen, fog lights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The TRD Sport will also include 17-inch wheels, wireless cellphone charging mat, keyless ignition, and so on. The TRD Off-Road trim will get 16-inch wheels, a handshake and upgraded driver information cluster. Moreover, the TRD Pro will include power adjustable leather seats, skid plates, navigation, 16-inch wheels, etc.
Release date and price
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma should arrive later this year. The starting price is expected to be around $27,000 and will go up to $45,500.
