The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck which is a great off-roader and capable vehicle. Visually, the Tundra features an attractive styling which has been mildly refreshed for the 2018 model year. The interior is rather roomy and able to welcome up to six passengers, however, some find it a bit outdated. But, for the newest 2019 model year, we are expecting to see more quality materials and perhaps more standard equipment. Under the hood, the standard version is equipped with a strong V-8 engine but the 2019 Tundra will finally receive the diesel engine. The toughest rivals of the new Tundra will include Ram 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Ford F-150, Nissan Titan, and Chevy Silverado 1500.
Engine and performance of the 2018 Toyota Tundra Diesel
If the latest news appears to be true, the 2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel will finally receive a diesel powertrain under its hood. It will most likely be the same engine which powers the Nissan Titan. It is a 5.0-liter V-8 Cummins engine which is able to deliver 310 horses and the torque of 555 pound-feet. However, it is still not confirmed whether the engine will work with an 8-speed or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the standard versions will feature two options. The one is a 4.6-liter V-8 with the output of 310 hp and 327 pound-feet of torque. The second option will be 5.7-liter V-8 which will produce 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it will be available with 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive systems.
Exterior and interior design
The exterior of the 2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel will also be refreshed in order to look more modern and eye-catching. The front fascia will receive a new and more modern appearance with the new design of the grille and restyled headlamps. The changes will also be visible on the rear fascia which will feature new taillights.
The cabin of the 2019 Tundra Diesel is roomy and comfortable with supportive front seats. This time, we are hoping for premium materials and perhaps more modern technology. The dashboard will be fitted with a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment while the higher trims will receive a larger 7.0-inch screen.
The standard equipment will include air conditioning, Bluetooth, USB, power locks and windows, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The higher trims will leather upholstery, heated front seats, JBL speakers, navigation, satellite radio and so on.
