2019 Toyota Venza: Rumors, Design, Review

Although we could hear the rumors that the Japanese carmaker will definitively discontinue the production of the Toyota Venza, this information is still not confirmed. Still, this mid-size SUV has been put on hold for a couple of years, but we believe and according to some speculations, the carmaker is working on the new 2019 Toyota Venza.

The Venza SUV is more like a wagon with the rear end of the hatchback. Its styling is unique and easily recognizable. As well, the cabin is comfortable, all the seats are wide and there is plenty of headroom. Speaking of the engine department, there are two engines available including a 4-cylinder and V-6 units. There is also a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. For the 2019 model year, we can expect some small adjustments in the exterior appearance and probably more tech equipment.

Honda Crosstour, Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-9, GMC Terrain and Ford Edge will be its key rivals after it goes on sale.

Engines and performances of the 2019 Toyota Venza

The current model features two engines under its hood and we assume that the 2019 Toyota Venza will carry with the same engine options. So, the one is a 2.7-liter inline-4 which is able to develop 181 horses and the torque of 182 lb-ft. This unit gets 20/26 mpg with the front-wheel drive while with all-wheel drive it features the same efficiency.

The next option is the stronger 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This powertrain is able to develop 268 horsepower and 246 pound-feet of torque. As for the fuel economy, the FWD model gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive version is rated at 18/25 mpg in the city/highway drive.

Both engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior and interior design

Like we have previously said, the Venza is an attractive vehicle with unique design and handsome profile. However, in order to stay competitive, the carmaker will most likely apply some new details and design cues on the upcoming 2019 Toyota Venza. So, on the front fascia, we could expect revised headlamps and a slightly larger grille. On the back, there will probably be new taillights and some changes considering bumper and exhaust outlets.

Generally, the cabin of the Toyota Venza has always been very well built with plenty of space for all the passengers. The cargo room is impressive also with the space of 70.1 cubic feet. The seats are covered in cloth and the leather upholstery is available in higher trims. However, the 2019 Toyota Venza should be upgraded with more quality materials and more modern technology. The standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, USB, audio system with 6 speakers and so on. Among standard safety features, there are seven airbags, brake assist, traction control, stability control, smart stop technology etc.
