In addition to the Yaris hatchback, the carmaker has expanded its lineup with the sedan version which was known as the Yaris iA. However, after being on the market just for two years, they have decided to replace it with the newest 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan. However, there is still no official information of the hatchback version or either it is also going to get a redesign also.
The new Yaris has just been presented at the 2018 New York Auto Show and it is bringing a revised exterior styling which is mostly visible on the front end. In addition to the exterior upgrade, the Yaris has also gotten refreshed interior. It now features more standard equipment and updated display in the center of the dashboard. Furthermore, the potential buyers will finally be able to choose between three trim levels. Those include L, LE, and the range-topping XLE versions. As well, there will be one engine option for all the trim levels and a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. As well, the new Yaris will definitively draw our attention because of its good fuel economy and very reasonable price. And it will arrive with very good safety equipment also.
Engine, performance, and transmission
As previously said, the upcoming 2019 Toyota Yaris will be equipped with one single engine for all the trim levels. It is a 1.5-liter inline-4 engine. This unit will be able to produce 106 horses and the torque of 103 pound-feet. It will work with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Speaking of the fuel economy, paired with a six-speed manual, it is rated at 30/39/34 mpg. Combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox, it gets 32 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 35 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Toyota Yaris will be restyled with some new details and more attractive elements which will mostly be visible on the front end. There will be a new honeycomb-style grille and available LED headlamps which will all give it a sportier appearance. The LED headlamps will be standard on the XLE version. As well, we will notice some nice chrome trim and more piano black details. The LE and XLE will get standard fog lights and the new rear lip spoiler.
The interior of the 2019 Toyota Yaris will also be refreshed with some new and upgraded features. However, space will remain unchanged and it is a bit limited especially for the rear seat passengers. The dashboard will be revised with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with voice recognition. Among standard equipment, there will be Bluetooth, USB, a rearview camera, a push button start, power windows and locks, steering wheels controls and so on. The LE trim will add alloy wheels, fog lights, and heated exterior mirrors. The XLE will also include rain-sensing windshield wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and leatherette upholstery. In the safety department, all models are equipped with six airbags, automatic emergency braking, and stability control.
