The 2019 Lexus ES has been just revealed to the public with a major overhaul, so the recently announced 2020 Lexus ES will probably arrive at the world’s market with no major changes. It will get the same aggressive styling, roomy and quality cabin, and a host of standard and optional equipment. As well, the new ES sedan will be available with a standard V-6 engine and a hybrid unit too.
The engines and performances of the 2020 Lexus ES
The new 2020 Lexus ES is going to be powered with two types of engines depending on a trim level. So, the Lexus ES 350 will use a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which will be able to make 302 horsepower and the torque of 267 lb-ft. This engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The F Sport model will get the same unit. The ES 350 model will be rated at 22 mpg in the city. And the F Sport will get 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, the 2020 Lexus ES 300h will get a hybrid engine. This engine will combine a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine with an electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery. The gasoline unit will have the output of 176 hp while the total output of the hybrid powertrain will be 215 horses and 163 pound-feet of torque. The fuel economy of this one is estimated to be 43 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway, and 44 mpg combined.
Exterior design and interior
The 2020 Lexus ES will be a carryover model, and therefore, it won’t get any visual changes this time. The outgoing model has been refreshed with a new appearance. So, the 2020 model year will continue with the same sporty look and wider and lower body. The Lexus ES looks aggressive with its aggressive spindle grille, and angular headlights. Moreover, the F Sport model will feature more black accents, distinctive 19-inch wheels, and a spoiler. The other models offered will be available with 17- and 18-inch wheels.
The interior of the 2020 Lexus ES will also be the same as the current model which now has more quality materials, nicely designed cabin, and great equipment. It is roomy enough, and both head and leg room are very generous. As well, it is significantly quieter than before.
Speaking of the equipment, the base model includes synthetic leather upholstery, LED lights on the front and rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, audio system with 10 speakers, push-button start, a power moonroof, three USB ports, a 7.0-inch display for the infotainment, and dual-zone climate control.
