The Japanese manufacturer has given a mid-cycle refresh to it popular RC model which will enter the market as the 2020 Lexus RC. The newest RC will get a revised exterior which will now look more aggressive and handsome. Inside the cabin, it will feature a more upscale look and will get several new color combinations. Beneath the hood, it will come with the same engines as the current model.
2020 Lexus RC powertrains
The new 2020 Lexus RC will return with the same range of engines options which will depend on a trim level. So, the base is going to be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to develop 241 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. It will work with an 8-speed automatic and will come with rear-wheel drive configuration. This engine gets 22/32 mpg.
The next is a 3.5-liter V-6 unit which can make 260 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive is standard and comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This one is rated at 19/26 mpg in the city/highway. Furthermore, the RC 350 model will use the same 3.5-liter V-6 which will be stronger and will be capable of making 311 hp and the torque of 277 lb-ft. It can be fitted with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive layouts.
On the other hand, the RC F will use a 5.0-liter V-8 which will have the output of 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque. This unit will get 16 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
The exterior and interior
Design-wise, the 2020 Lexus RC will get a mid-cycle refresh, and its redesign will be inspired by the LC model. So, the front end will wear the same spindle grille with a new mesh trim and it now looks even more aggressive. The bumper will also be revised and will get the new corners, also inspired by the flagship LC model. The headlamps are also restyled and there are new LED daytime running lights which are integrated into the headlights and are larger than before. Looking at the profile of the vehicle, we will notice new mirror caps and redesigned wheels too. Furthermore, the rear end will sport the significantly larger taillights and a new bumper with larger vents.
Inside the cabin, the manufacturer has given it a few changes. So, the new 2020 Lexus RC will get a new brushed finish which will give it a more premium look and the center console is now slightly larger and placed higher which will provide more comfort. There is also a new analog clock on the dash, the same one found in the LC model. Furthermore, the Lexus RC will be offered in five trim options which will include brushed metal and aluminum Naguri trims. As well, there are seven interior color combinations to choose from.
Release date and price of the 2020 Lexus RC
The 2020 Lexus RC should arrive sometime next year. Its price is expected to start at around $40,700 and the RC F model will be around $64,650.
