Since the 2019 model year has been all-new, we don’t anticipate any changes for the upcoming 2020 Lexus UX model. It will continue to be offered with two types of engine among which there will be a hybrid powertrain which will be more fuel efficient. As well, we expect the same aggressive and sharp styling and nicely designed and comfortable interior.
Under the hood of the 2020 Lexus UX
The 2020 Lexus UX will come with two types of engines as the 2019 model year. The one is a 2.0-liter inline-4 which is able to produce 168 horses and the torque of 151 pound-feet. This engine will be mated to a continuously variable transmission and it will come with front-wheel drive system. As well, it will be able to hit 60 mph in 8.9 seconds. This base engine is rated at 33 mpg combined.
On the other hand, the Lexus UX will also be available with a hybrid engine which will combine a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine with two electric motors one placed on the front while the other on the rear axle. The total output of this one will be around 176 horses. This unit will also work with a CVT and will come with all-wheel drive system.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2020 Lexus UX will come with no changes in the external appearance since it has been all-new for the current, 2019 model year. The whole body will feature sharp lines and aggressive design. The front fascia is dominated by a large spindle grille and slim and angular headlights equipped with LED lighting. On the rear, there will be full-width taillights and a prominent bumper. Depending on a trim level, the Lexus UX will get 17- or 18-inch wheels. Furthermore, the F Sport model will feature a sportier and more aggressive appearance with a unique mesh grille and revised front and rear bumpers.
Inside the cabin, the 2020 Lexus UX will come with two rows of seats which will provide great comfort and spaciousness. The base model will get cloth upholstery while the higher trims will be offered with leather. The front seats will be 8-way power adjustable in all the versions. The cargo space in the standard model is 21.7 cubic feet while the hybrid model offers the room of 17.1 cubes.
In the center of the dashboard is placed a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The base equipment will include keyless ignition, satellite radio, cruise control, LED headlamps, power front seats, air conditioning, power features, audio system with six speakers, Bluetooth, and several USB ports. The Premium models will add synthetic leather upholstery, heating and cooling function, and a power sunroof. The Luxury trim will also get blind-spot monitors, a power tilt/telescoping steering, and a hands-free tailgate. Furthermore, the F Sport model will have sport seats, F Sport badging, and active sound control.
Release date and price
It is still not confirmed, but the 2020 Lexus UX will most likely appear sometime during next year. The price probably won’t change and it will start at around $30,000.
