The iconic sedan has been redesigned recently and among new models, there is the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid as well. The Japanese manufacturer is the world’s leader in hybrid technology, so it’s no wonder that we are about to see two versions of this car in the near future. Currently, the new model is available with a familiar system from the previous generation, but the new one is expected to come as well. Besides new powertrain, there is a completely new design as well. Of course, everything is based on the company’s new TNGA architecture, but there is also new styling, new cabin with finer materials and much more.
2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid doesn’t go far away from standard gasoline models. This overhaul has brought a lot of novelties and the first one that comes to mind is a new platform. Like other models in the lineup, the new Corolla also rides on the new TNGA platform and also comes with significant improvements in terms of driving characteristics. Handling, dynamics and overall driving experience are much better than before.
Of course, there is a new styling as well. The 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid comes with a couple of distinctive details, but the overall look is pretty much the same as on gasoline versions. This redesign has brought a lot of novelties and one of them is the addition of new body styles. The hatchback is back, though we are still waiting for the hybrid model. Also, there is a station wagon model, though it looks like it won’t be offered in North America.
On the inside, the new 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid comes with a lot of improvement compared to the previous generation. The first thing you’ll notice is that the dashboard looks more upscale, with fine materials and attractive lines. Still, the new touchscreen somehow looks too big and its position could be distracting for some drivers. On the other side, seats are massive and comfortable, while the second row offers a decent amount of legroom as well. On the other side, the cargo area could be bigger.
Like all Toyota models that came in the past few years, the 2020 Corolla Hybrid is also characterized by a full load of standard safety features. Some of the highlights are a rearview camera, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, brake assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, etc.
Currently, the new model comes with a familiar system from the previous generation. It is based on a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and delivers a combined output of around 120 horsepower. These numbers definitely won’t provide you some spectacular performances, but fuel economy is simply unparalleled. It goes around 53 mpg in the city and 52 on the highway.
A great new is that another powertrain is coming soon. It is a new system that is based on a 2.0-liter engine, which delivers a pretty impressive combined output of 180 horsepower.
Toyota Corolla Hybrid Price
