The new 2020 Toyota HiAce had its official debut recently in the Philippines and it looks like there are many amazing novelties that came with it. The famous van has been around for decades and this is actually the sixth generation under this nameplate. Such a long life means high reputation as well and the new model is about to make things even better. Once again, it is designed primarily to meet demands of Australian and Asian drivers, though it will become available in other parts of the world soon as well. Compared to the previous generation, it is bigger, more efficient, with better driving characteristics and many other improvements.
2020 Toyota HiAce Design
Despite numerous changes, the new 2020 Toyota HiAce sticks to its core design characteristics. It is still a typical minivan, which comes in two layouts, with so-called Normal/Standard Roof and Long/High Roof versions. Both variants are larger now, so the biggest version can accommodate up to 17 passengers, which sounds pretty impressive.
In terms of mechanics, the 2020 Toyota HiAce van adopts the company’s new TNGA platform, which obviously means a lot of improvements. The new architecture is beneficial in many ways, starting from a lower center of gravity, which ensures much better driving characteristics. The new model is also lighter and more efficient.
When it comes to the styling, you can notice a lot of influence from the luxurious Alphard. Headlights are pretty similar, as well as the front fascia. On the other side, there isn’t much room for changes in an overall body layout, as we are talking about a minivan.
Obviously, this redesign brings a lot of novelties in terms of interior design as well. Compared to the previous generation, everything looks more upscale. The dashboard is characterized by much more styling, thanks to the use of hi-quality materials and very attractive color schemes. All materials are finer and soft on touch, while the new steering wheel looks far more attractive. Of course, there is a new instrument cluster, as well as a long list of new standard features, in terms of safety, navigation, infotainment, hi-tech gadgetry and much more. As we already mentioned, the seating capacity has been increased, while all seats feature notably higher quality and more comfort.
2020 Toyota HiAce Engines
At this point, we know two engines that are coming for sure. Those are well-known units that have been in use for years. One of them is a well-known 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which can be found in many models in Toyota’s range. It is good for about 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. For those who prefer petrol, there is a large and reliable 3.5-liter V6, which comes directly from the Land Cruiser Prado. It is good for about 280 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to transmission, there is a choice between manual and automatic gearbox.
A hybrid version has been rumored as well, though we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter.
2020 Toyota HiAce Release Date and Price
The 2020 Toyota HiAce already debuted on some markets, like the Philippines and should come to other countries in the new few months. When it comes to the price, it will largely depend on the market. In Australia, the base Toyota HiAce 2020 model should go around 40.000 AUD.
