The Japanese manufacturer is working
on the brand-new 2020 Toyota Prius V which is expected to be slightly refreshed
compared to the current model. So, it will most likely be revised both inside
and out with some new details and perhaps more tech features. On the other
hand, under its hood, it will be found the same engine which powers the current
Powertrain and performance of the
new 2020 Toyota Prius V
Beneath the hood of the 2020 Toyota Prius V will be placed the familiar unit which powers the outgoing model. And it is a combination of a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a high-capacity battery pack. This powertrain will be able to make 136 horsepower. The engine will be coupled to a continuously variable transmission and will come with front-wheel drive system as standard.
Furthermore, this engine will be able to work in the EV mode and will have an all-electric range of 1 mile. When it comes to fuel economy, it will be rated at 44 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg combined. However, for now we don’t have the information about the possible improvements in fuel consumption or either perfromance.
The exterior and interior design
The current model has gotten a new
Toyota’s TNGA platform which has made it lighter and provided a lower center of
gravity which has resulted in improved handling but also raised the ride
comfort on the higher level. So, the new 2020 Toyota Prius V will use the same
architecture and considering its design, we can expect just some small
revisions in order to make it look fresh and to stay competitive. The whole
body now features a more SUV-like shape and it will look more attractive. Like
before, the front end will get a similar design as the Prius model and this
time should receive slightly revised grille and headlamps. The rear end will
most likely be refreshed with new taillights and bumper.
Speaking of the interior design, the 2020 Toyota Prius V will get the same two-row seating configuration and will be able to place up to five passengers. The cabin has slightly grown in size because of the new architecture which provides more space and therefore more comfort for all the passengers. As for the cargo room, the Prius has the room of 34.3 cubic feet. And it can expand to 67.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
The base 2020 Toyota Prius V will
get cloth seats, keyless entry, a rearview camera, automatic climate control,
and Toyota’s Entune media and connectivity system, as standard. The Two trim
level will add a 6.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, navigation,
Bluetooth, voice control, and so on. The range-topping models will also include
an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, LED headlamps, an
auto-dimming rearview mirror, and many other items.
Release date and price of the 2020
Toyota Prius V
Although it is not yet official, the
2020 Toyota Prius V should appear on the market in late 2019. The pricing
probably won’t be much different from the outgoing model.
