The current generation of the Toyota’s popular minivan, the Sienna has been on the market since 2011, so it is very likely to get a full redesign. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the upcoming 2020 Toyota Sienna will come completely overhauled or we will have to wait for the 2021 model year. We assume that the 2020 version will get some minor revisions which should include some small styling changes and upgraded on the technology front.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Toyota Sienna
The 2020 Toyota Sienna will return with the same engine found in the previous version. It is a familiar 3.5-liter V-6 engine which is able to produce 296 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. The engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The front-wheel drive model gets 19 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. Connected to all wheels, it is rated at 18/24/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined.
On the other hand, we expect the hybrid version of this model as well. And according to the latest rumors, this version will combine the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. This unit should be able to deliver around 300 horses.
Design of exterior and interior
The Toyota Sienna has been mildly refreshed for the 2018 model year. And it is still not clear whether the 2020 Toyota Sienna will continue with the same styling or it will be fully revised. However, we assume that the complete overhaul will most likely happen for the 2021 model year. The front end will sport the same large grille and a pair of sloping headlamps. The SE trim levels will feature a sportier design and will get the unique design of the front and rear bumpers, smoked headlights, and side skirts. The 18-inch wheels are standard while the higher trims will get the larger 19-inch wheels.
The 2020 Toyota Sienna features three rows of seats and can accommodate up to eight passengers. However, if you replace the second-row bench with the captain’s chairs, it reduces the number of passengers to seven. The seats are upholstered in fabric and the leather is available in higher trim levels. The third row is spacious and can welcome three adults. It can also be folded flat which increases the room to 118 cubic feet. With only front seats up, the cargo expands to 150 cubes.
Equipment of the 2020 Toyota Sienna
The 2020 Toyota Sienna will be available in several trim levels. The base model will include a 6.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa connectivity, five USB ports, three-zone climate control, Toyota Safety Sense system, automatic headlamps, a rearview camera, Entune Audio system, etc. The higher trims will add a JBL audio system, blind-spot monitoring, moonroof, leather, a power driver’s and passenger’s seat, a rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-ray DVD player, and so on.
Release date and price
We assume that the new 2020 Toyota Sienna won’t be available on the market before the end of 2019. The price will most likely stay close to the current which begins at $31,100.
